Your apprenticeship at COPA-DATA is a great beginning for your future. With a suitable trainee position, we’ll challenge you right from the start.
You’ll be fully supported by all of our experience and by Michael, your personal point of contact, who will be there for you with loads of advice. We’re sure you’ll enjoy learning from and alongside him.
We will coordinate work plans with your education dates, exams and projects.
The high level of risk present in the pharmaceutical industry has made many manufacturers hesitant to move away from paper documentation and embrace the total digitalization of the manufacturing plant. As drug patents expire, however, production efficiency becomes increasingly important. At COPA-DATA, we have developed our pharmaceutical manufacturing software zenon to help companies overcome industry challenges and optimize their processes using innovative technology.
Apprenticeship facts
We currently have open apprenticeships for application development/coding. We offer a range of training models:
- Regular apprenticeship: The regular training time for apprentices is 4 years
- Apprenticeship in combination with A-Levels: Apprentices have Fridays off to attend 6-hour A-Level courses (Matura course) in their respective subject.
- Shortened apprenticeship
- Dual academy
Both regular and shortened apprenticeships can be done as adult apprenticeships. We support and encourage apprenticeships for second-level school leavers. Apprentices have Fridays off to attend 6-hour second level courses (Matura course) in their respective subject.

Work smart – the future after your apprenticeship
After your apprenticeship you’ll have all the options, from product development to quality assurance, customer support, project development or technical sales. Opportunities will depend on your interest in a specific area and on current openings.
During your apprenticeship, you will have gathered intensive know-how in various programming technologies as well as in the zenon software platform, so our goal is to offer a permanent position to as many apprentices as possible after they have completed their training.
The COPA-DATA Training Program
Our apprentices start with a 2 week introduction, before they get all the basics in their first year. This initial training program includes, but isn’t limited to:
Basics of C programming
Basics of C++ programming
Basics of C# .NET programming
Working on automating our own facilities.
Introduction to the zenon software platform.
You will work independently and on real projects from the start. At the end of your apprenticeship, you get the opportunity to complete a temporary placement abroad in one of our international subsidiaries. There are also further training courses and project weeks on various areas and topics available at COPA-DATA.
We simply offer you more, beyond the regular training plan.

Our apprentices learn how to code and will get to know our zenon software platform, along with the other teams. At COPA-DATA, apprentices work on actual projects and gain real insights into their future profession.
How to apply
1. Application and CV
Send us your CV, including your latest grade statement and a confirmation of any other courses you have done. We will call you to give you the opportunity to tell us why you want to do this training. We don’t need a cover letter, we’d rather chat.
2. Interview
We invite you to come over so we can get to know each other, and we’ll inform you about the various opportunities for apprentice training with us.
3. Trial Days
You will meet the people you are going to work with, and learn about the jobs they do. You’ll get your own impression of us and show us who you are. We’ll take the time to talk about everything frankly, so we can all find out if it’s a match.
4. Signing the contract
We will agree on a starting date and you will get all the required info.
