Steady growth for global success

“With so many great and internationally successful export companies in Austria, we already saw our nomination among the top 3 in our Information and Consulting category as a success. The fact that we can then return home with the silver export award shows our upward growth trajectory as a globally active technology company over many years,” says Johannes Petrowisch, Managing Director COPA-DATA Central Eastern Europe / Middle East.

The internationality of the family-owned software manufacturer with its development site at the Salzburg headquarters and 13 other subsidiaries worldwide is also reflected in its involvement as an Associate Partner at the World Economic Forum and its appointment as one of the few tech unicorns from Austria with a market value of over one billion US dollars in 2022.

Multiple pillars and local relationships

More than 400 employees worldwide, together with 16 distributors, ensure the international distribution of the zenon software platform in over 100 countries. 450 partner companies for integration into diverse system landscapes support this international network with local support. 300,000 installations of the software have already been counted since the company was founded in Salzburg in 1987 - with a strong upward trend.

“In recent years in particular, we have experienced great success in working directly and closely with global leaders in their industries. From life sciences specialists to innovative machine builders in food and beverage, global players in the automotive industry and energy suppliers and distributors who are undergoing change all over the world, there are more and more fans of our diverse software solutions. A plus on our side: we think and live software and give our customers maximum freedom and independence in terms of the choice of hardware components used,” explains Lukas Punzenberger, Director Product Management at COPA-DATA and son of company founder and CEO Thomas Punzenberger.

The diversification across several key industries and the focus on automation, digitalization and sustainability also enabled COPA-DATA to achieve stable growth through the Covid crisis and other economic turbulences.
